Digital Healthcare Technologies Advance Care in South Africa

South Africa is a leader in healthcare in Africa, with advanced medical infrastructure and a growing focus on new technologies. Leading healthcare institutions in the country are exploring digital healthcare to improve patient care, increase diagnostic accuracy, and use resources more efficiently. United Imaging is supporting this journey in partnership with Maine Radiology.

Cintocare Hospital, the first Green Star SA Custom Healthcare Design certified hospital in the country, and Medforum Medi-Clinic Hospital, a comprehensive, state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging practice with a history of excellence and a deep commitment to health, have both introduced high-end medical innovations from United Imaging. These technologies are strengthening the hospitals' capabilities to deliver high-quality healthcare services to patients.
With advanced technologies including the uMR 780, uCT 780, uDR 780i, uMR 570, and uOmnispace Pilot, these institutions are redefining patient care. "The first thing is always patient-centered. So we need to understand how the patient feels," said Dr. Sibusiso Ndlovu, radiologist at Cintocare. "We've got advanced imaging equipment from United Imaging," added Dr. Andre Bam, diagnostic radiologist at the hospital. "It's a modern machine. When the patient sees the room, they immediately feel at ease. And we've got an ACS sequence, which reduces the scan time dramatically. Where scan time was close to five minutes, it's now just two and a half minutes."

Artificial Intelligence plays a pivotal role in improving both efficiency and diagnostic precision. Integrated with multiple systems, radiologists can now access a broader range of collaborative tools. "The uOmnispace embeds AI within it, assisting us in making more accurate diagnoses, faster diagnoses, and reducing our workload," said Dr. Bam. "We South Africans like pretty images. With the uOmnispace, you get nice 3D rendering. It's very visual."

Through partnerships with leading healthcare institutions, United Imaging continues to support the development of digital healthcare in South Africa, improving patient care and helping expand access to quality medical services.
